Andris discovered his passion for social dance while working as
a fitness coordinator at the Rīga Sports Complex back in 2008.
He noticed something remarkable: older adults who'd been
struggling with mobility and isolation would light up when the
music started. They weren't just exercising — they were living.
That observation shaped everything that came next. He earned his
degree in dance pedagogy from the Latvian Academy of Culture in
2008, then spent the next decade and a half building something
real. Today, he's trained 47 local dance instructors and
established partnerships with 12 community centers throughout
Latvia. His work with Latin dance workshops in Rīga, partner
dance evenings in Jelgava, and dance communities in Daugavpils
isn't just about teaching steps — it's about creating genuine
social networks where people over 45 feel welcomed and valued.
The numbers tell part of the story. But the part that matters
more? He's documented over 200 lasting friendships formed
through his workshops. People who came in nervous now show up
early and stay late. That's what drives him. At balticwatch
Solutions Ltd, Andris channels this philosophy into creating
guides that actually help — practical, accessible resources that
demystify Latin dance, explain how staying fit through bachata
and salsa works, and build confidence in seniors discovering
dance for the first time.
